High school diploma and/or GED Ability to work with individual families or small groups Interpersonal skills to work effectively with school/district staff Effective written and oral communication skills and technical skills needed to enter/report data for Parents as Teachers program Preferred
Qualifications:
Associate's degree or higher Certification in the nationally accredited parenting program used by Lexington School District Four Experience working with parents and/or children in an instructional setting Able to communicate fluently in Spanish Job Goal:
The primary responsibility of the parent educator is to schedule, conduct and document regular home visitation sessions with participating parents and their children to deliver a curriculum designed to teach basic parenting skills and child development.
Sessions will focus on child development, parenting skills, and age-appropriate literacy activities for young children.

Director of Federal & State Programs Performance
Responsibilities:
(includes but not limited to):
Conduct needs assessment with each family to determine current strengths and areas of need.
Provide strategies to parents to assure school readiness.
Assist families as needed with referrals to Baby Net, DSS, DHEC, housing authority, etc.
Conduct assessments of children/parents as required by the parenting program and/or Early Head Start.
Collaborate with community partner agencies to access services for participating families.
Complete required paperwork, documentation and grant reports for home visitation, school-based programs.
Facilitate data collection and data entry for all assigned programs.
Assist in setting up and maintaining materials/supplies for the parenting program.
Develop age-appropriate lesson plans for families.
Maintain accurate records of all home visits.
Establish a positive rapport with families and maintain confidentiality.
Assist in recruiting families who may benefit from the parent program.
Assist with parenting seminars, workshops, and group meetings.
Physical Requirements:
Requires mostly light work that involves walking, bending, sitting, or standing some of the time and may occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
Terms of Employment:
190 days; Classified Salary Schedule, Grade 11 Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with Board Policy.
